How does the change in environment impact Celiane's life towards the end of the novel?

  1. At first, Celiane is scared in New York. She has a hard time making friends. She also gets lost and almost doesn't make it home after school. She then begins making friends and gets comfortable in her new home. Afterwards, Celiane goes to a friends house without notifying her parents. This gets her in some pretty serious trouble. I would go as far as to say that the city has changed her for the worst.

  2. The environment impacts Celiane's life towards the end of the novel because in New York they have buildings surrounding you everywhere and in Haiti you don't. Also, when she went to school in New York, she had a transportation to get there and her school was far much better than the one back in Haiti. This is how the environment impacts Celiane' life towards the end of the novel.

  4. This big move in envirment from Haiti to New York impacts Celiane's life by making Celiane adapt to new things quickly.Things like school for one changes from her old school in Haiti to this new one in New York with no one she knows, gangs roaming everywhere, and also adapting to new classes that are put into periods.Celiane also has to learn a new lauguage which is hard for one to learn but she also cant function in New York until she does since no one out of her school speaks creole. shes also adjusting to see her dad again.

  5. im anthony rodriguez and the impact on celiane is very harsh for example the weather in haiti it was always very warm and comfortable but in new york it is a very harsh winter it is very cold and its mostly always snowing some of the other transitions are schools in haiti she had lots of friends and she was one of the top students and the teacher loved her but in new york she has no friends but two kids and in here everything is in english and she has trouble with it sometimes and there is alot of gang activity in her new school there are many transitions for her to get used to

  6. Responding to Cynthia's post, I think the school in Haiti was better for Celiane socially, but was indeed better scholastically.

  7. Responding to Kaylin's post, she actually goes to a school who speaks creole so that is not a factor socially.
